Do you have people?

 We need PEOPLE in our creativity journey.  We need them in so many ways, but today I just want to talk about one way in particular…

ENCOURAGEMENT

The truth is, we can create stuff and get enjoyment and fulfillment out of that process all on our own, but our creative lives are SO much better if we have at least one person who we can count on to encourage us along.

WE CAN ALL USE A GOOD CHEERLEADER!
 

Maybe you are lucky enough to already have one or two or more, but if not, how do you find one?

Drum roll please…
 

YOU MAY HAVE TO ASK!
 

A text, or a call, or an email could sound like this - 

“Hi (insert name of future cheerleader.) This is (insert your name.)  I know this sounds a little crazy, but I’ve started (insert thing you are doing) and I could really use some outside encouragement.  If I were to keep you updated on my progress from time to time, would you be willing just to tell me how great I’m doing?  I think that would really help me to keep going!"
 

How can anyone say no to that?!  
 

Reminder 1:  

You are not asking this person to be your critic or your editor. There will be others who you may ask to take on those roles.  You want a cheerleader!
 

Reminder 2:

In anything we do, there will always be naysayers—even if they are just the voices inside our own heads.  Expect and accept that.

That’s why we need at least one YAYsayer!

And we’re not above asking!

So, write that text, make that call, send that email. Get yourself a cheerleader!
