Mama Said There’d Be Days Like This
Ok, I’ll be honest…
There are those days when I just don’t feel like doing my creative thing.
Actually, there are those days when I just don’t feel like doing ANYTHING!
I know I’m not alone.
So, what do we do?
First of all, It’s important to ask yourself - is this just a day you’re not feeling it, or has this been going on for a week or a month or the better part of a year or even more? If this is a chronic feeling, this requires a deeper conversation for a future newsletter.
But for the everyday, every once in a while 'blah,' it really comes down to two basic options:
Take a break
Press on
I wish I could give you a magic formula for knowing when to do what, but I do believe, if you just take a moment to listen to yourself, you will know which is best for you in your particular situation.
I’ve done both with success! Sometimes I just need a break. I need to get a change of scenery and clear my head so I can come back with a fresh perspective and some fresh ideas.
Sometimes, though, I just need to silence the voices in my head, press on, work through the barriers, and gut it out no matter what.
Honestly, when I make an honest decision, I feel proud of myself when I do either one! Both are part of the creative process.
Yep! Mama said there'd be days like this, and she was right! But when we see the 'blah' days for what they are—just part of the gig—we can choose to take a break or choose to press on, knowing that we will be on the other side of the 'blah' soon.
But please...
Whatever you do, don't stop altogether!
Your creative work is too important!
You got this!
Love Always!
