Creativity - ROCK, PEBBLE or SAND? An Important Shift for 2025

Have you ever heard of the “The Big Rocks” theory?

The idea is that if you have a jar for rocks, pebbles and sand, you need to put the big rocks in first, THEN the pebbles and sand, because if you start with sand and pebbles, there is never room for the rocks. This is actually a powerful analogy that can guide how you do your days!

Each day is a jar.

The rocks are the things that you know, deep down, matter most to you.

The pebbles are less important.

The sand is the filler stuff.

I don’t know about you, but sometimes my days are full of sand! I’ll get to the end of the day, and try to stuff a rock or two in the jar, and it’s too late! The jar is full.

In recent years, I’ve tried very hard to change this in regards to my creativity. 

I’ve realized how important creating is to me, so now,

CREATING DAILY is a ROCK for ME.

Yep. I create something every single day. This is one of my BIG ROCKS. Sometimes it is focused, planned and purposeful, sometimes it’s something new, or mundane, or totally random. Sometimes I create for an extended period of time, sometimes it’s for five minutes. But The Creativity Rock is among my “first in” rocks! EVERY DAY!

So, my fellow creators, I’m extending this challenge to you:

In 2025, make your creative work A ROCK!

Not sand, not a pebble, but A BIG ROCK!

You deserve it! I believe your life will be better for it! I believe the world will be better for it!
